Evince – PDF file print problems on SuSE

March 9, 2009

Evince is default document viewer for PDF files on SuSE 10.2. I tried to print pdf files opened in Evince but could not get them to print. Sometimes no error is reported (not even in CUPS error log) but document does not print at all. At other times “Broken Pipe” error is displayed and clicking that causes Evince to hang (and needs to be killed). I went through suggestion mentioned at http://blog.avirtualhome.com/2008/11/21/cant-print-in-evince-gedit-claws-mail/, but on my machine “AuthInfoRequired username, password” line is not present in printers.conf file (see contents below).

For now I have started using Gnome PDF Viewer to open PDF docs (made that default pdf viewer), using which I am able to print PDF files. If you come across any solution to print from Evince let me know.
